To give you an overview of the different types of dates, here is a small list with the characteristics of the dates included:
1. Astaka dates 800g
Our delicious Astaka dates are large and round with soft flesh and crunchy skin. Their colour ranges from dark yellow to brown. The lighter ones are firmer, meaty and crunchy, while the darker ones are soft and creamy. Astaka are soft in taste and not too sweet. As they are very fresh dates, they should always be kept in the freezer. They taste great ice cold too!
2. Sukari soft dates with kernel 800g
The royal dates, as the Sukari are also called, are cone-shaped and have a wrinkled skin. Their colour is a rich brown with golden yellow tones and they have a caramel-like, fruity taste with a silky aftertaste of honey. These delicious dates come from Al-Qasim in Saudi Arabia. They are not too sweet, but quite soft and just pure delight!
3. Safawi dates 800g
Safawi dates have a beautiful dark brown colour. They are rather firm and have a fine taste that is slightly reminiscent of coffee. Their aftertaste is not as sweet as other types of dates, so you can nibble a lot without any problems.
4. Khidri dates 800g
Khidri, the “big, dark and mysterious” dates, are known for their uniform chestnut red colour. This variety has a thin-leaved skin and sweet, somewhat chewy flesh reminiscent of sultanas. Khidri have a warm, intense aftertaste.
How should dates be stored and at what temperature do they taste best?
