White pepper whole
Even if white pepper does not look like pepper at first sight, you will realize that it is definitely pepper when you smell it.
Our pepper is harvested fully ripe, then soaked in water and freed from the skin and pulp. This preserves the pungent substance in the seed, while the flavour profile shrinks without the essential oils from the pulp. White pepper is therefore significantly hotter but less varied in flavour.
White pepper is particularly popular with light-coloured dishes. Ground white pepper seasons light-coloured sauces or light-coloured meat without standing out visually.
