Freeze-dried Jackfruit Organic
The jackfruit is a versatile superfruit. And it more than deserves this term! It is not only the largest tree fruit in the world, but also a vegetable and fruit in one. The freeze-dried jackfruit has a sweet characteristic taste and smell with a crunchy texture.
What is jackfruit and what does jackfruit taste like?
The young jackfruit is becoming a plant-based food trend and with good reason. This is because it naturally brings a fibrous texture that is reminiscent of chicken meat. It is therefore perfect as a high-quality meat alternative without additives and a long list of ingredients. Jackfruit can therefore be used as a great meat substitute. However, jackfruit comes in several forms and each one has its own unique taste. If you let the jackfruit ripen further, it develops its fructose and now tastes like a mixture of mango, pineapple and gummy bears. Exotically crunchy or gently dried, it brings an exotic fruity note to your muesli, smoothie or fruit salad. But pssst… it’s also delicious as a little snack straight from the bag!
Jackfruit recipes
Fresh jackfruit is – as mentioned above – often used as a meat substitute in hot dishes. There are many possibilities like Jackfruit Goulash, Jackfruit Burger, Jackfruit Curry or Jackfruit Pulled Pork. However, in vacuum-fried or freeze-dried form, they are usually used differently. The deep-fried form is the perfect healthy snack on the couch, while the freeze-dried version goes great with muesli or similar.
Freeze-dried jackfruit – What’s so special about it?
Did you know that just half a handful of freeze-dried fruit counts as one serving of fresh fruit? This can be attributed to the concentration of our freeze-dried fruits. In addition, they can be kept for a long time without refrigeration, convince with their almost unchanged ingredients, their delicious taste and are nevertheless free of additives.
How does freeze-drying work?
Freeze-drying is a particularly gentle preservation process. Our fruits are frozen directly after harvesting and then filled into a vacuum container. The resulting negative pressure causes the water to escape in the form of water vapour at sub-zero temperatures. The special thing about this process is that the intensive aroma, the natural colour and the high content of natural ingredients – including all vitamins – remain almost unchanged. And all this without adding any additives.
What is the best use for freeze-dried jackfruit?
The whole pieces of freeze-dried fruit are great as a snack, but like the freeze-dried powder, they can also be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen. For example, in mueslis, yoghurts, desserts, porridges, baked goods or in smoothies, lemonades or teas to give the drink a fruity touch.
What is one of the biggest advantages of freeze-drying?
Because the water content of freeze-dried fruits is so low, they have a very long shelf life if stored correctly. Therefore, for long shelf life, it is important that they are placed in an airtight container as soon as possible after opening, which should be in as cool and dark a place as possible. Thus, freeze-dried fruits are, among other things, also a practical alternative when fresh products are not in season.
